The NASCAR Pinty’s Series Bumper to Bumper 300 that had been scheduled for today has been postponed to Sunday due to a rainfall warning which has been issued for the area this afternoon and evening. The Maritime League of Legends will also compete on Sunday, as they were scheduled to on Saturday.
The Celtic Air Services Legends 50 will start at Noon Sunday and the Bumper to Bumper 300 green flag will be at 1:30 p.m. A complete schedule for Sunday is here.
With the postponement, management for Riverside International Speedway has decided to do a “Bring a Friend Free” promotion on Sunday. In other words, fans can buy one ticket and a second person will get in free (that would use an equal or lesser value ticket). Fans who already have their tickets for the Bumper to Bumper 300 can also take advantage of this promotion and bring a friend who will get in free.
“Bring a friend, bring your neighbor, bring the neighbor’s kids,” said Paul McLean, general manager at Riverside International Speedway. “Postponing an event is never good for anyone involved so we’re trying to make the best of it and want to thank our fans for their patience and support. We hope this helps. In this situation, with a weather warning in place for later today, it is in the best interest of everyone that we make this decision early.”
And, fans should check Riverside’s Facebook page today for a special 24-hour “Like & Share” contest where someone will win a 2019 season pass for Riverside International Speedway. The lucky winner will be announced at the track on Sunday.
Regular ticket prices for Sunday are $35.00 for adults, $15.00 for students aged 16-18, $10.00 for youth 8-15, and children seven and under get in free.
Bumper to Bumper guests who have been invited to attend the corporate hospitality event pre-race should note this function has been rescheduled for Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
With 18 drivers from throughout Canada and the United States expected to enter the Bumper to Bumper 300, the field is stacked with talent including three series champions (Kennington, Andrew Ranger, L.P. Dumoulin) and 10 series race winners (Micks, Cole Powell, Kennington, Alex Tagliani, Donald Theetge, Ranger, L.P. Dumoulin, Donald Chisholm, Kevin Lacroix, and Pete Shepherd III).
L.P. Dumoulin leads the NPS point standings heading into Sunday’s race with a slim 10-point advantage over Marc-Antoine Camirand. Tagliani sits third just one marker behind Camirand. Powell is two points behind Tagliani and Kennington is fifth and trailing fourth by just seven points. Only 20 points presently separate the top five championship contenders with the Bumper to Bumper 300 being round nine of 13 en route to the 2018 title.
