Track History

Opening in 1969, Riverside Speedway has seen some of the best short track racing in eastern Canada. Modeled after the legendary Bristol Motor Speedway, the high banks of Riverside are sure to entertain.

In 2005, the tired track was completely demolished and rebuilt: including a new racing surface, concrete walls, lighting, granstands, control tower, and tech shed. Additional parking was added and level sites for RV parking. The new 'Riverside' re-opened August 19th, 2006, to a capacity crowd for the Antigonish Mall 200. Be sure to check out the photos gallery.

"They really know how to do it right up there." #24 Mike Rowe

"The newly refurbished track is a high banked roller coaster of a speedway that is a terrific place to race."#84 Scott Mulkern

"The fourteen hour ride up to Riverside speedway was well worth it. That sure was the best experience I have ever had on a race track it was smooth and very fast, hope to race there again in the future." #35  Derek Ramtrom

"I remember coming here to the first race the track was awesome then and it's even better now you can not get a better third mile track." #13 Rollie MacDonald
