2020 TRACK RENTAL PROTOCOL HAS BEEN SIGNIFICANTLY REVISED DUE TO COVID-19. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.

We are opening Riverside for race team practice in accordance with Nova Scotia’s public health guidelines. As with everything COVID-19, we all need to work together to help prevent its spread for our protection and for that of others. For the safety of our staff and the team participants, and the hope of racing this summer, teams need to take these measures seriously and abide by them, with no exceptions. If any person is not abiding by the guidelines the entire team will be asked to leave immediately.

Time slots are from Noon to 4 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Noon to 8 p.m. Weekdays are preferable; weekend days are tougher to coordinate but will be considered if necessary…

2020 COVID-19 Track Rental Guidelines

  • must reserve and pay in advance online
  • maximum four (4) cars per session (each required to register and pay separately)
  • maximum five (5) people per team (car)
  • team members must be named on rental request
  • all team members required to sign-off protocol and symptom checklist prior to arrival; will be emailed when the rental is confirmed
  • each team (car) must designate a leader to communicate with on-site RIS staff, and provide a cellular phone/text number for them so they communicate electronically (contactless)
  • the team MUST bring required COVID-19 prevention supplies – face mask & disinfectant supplies – no exceptions (so supplies, no entry)
  • participants must wear a face mask at entry (to ensure they have one if needed)
  • the entire team should be on-site prior to the scheduled start time; the gate will not be opened once the session starts
  • team haulers must be parked at least
  • no-one should participate if exposed to COVID-19 within the previous 14 days, if experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, or if they have traveled outside Nova Scotia in the previous 14 days
  • anyone at risk for severe illness is encouraged to stay home to stay home
  • participants should wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; if not possible use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content
  • participants should limit physical contact with others; refrain from hugs, handshakes, high-fives, etc.
  • participants are encouraged to practice respiration etiquette (coughing, sneezing) by covering mouth/nose with the inside of the elbow, and to avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth at all times, especially with unwashed/sanitized hands
  • team haulers must be parked at least 20 feet/7 meters apart
  • team members must maintain a minimum 2 meter/6 foot distance; if not possible then face mask must be worn
  • team members should not share equipment; if not possible equipment should be sanitized between users
  • each participant should bring their own food and beverages; no shared coolers or food tables
  • the pit area restroom will be open – maximum two people inside at one time; soap and water will be available for handwashing
  • guidelines are subject to change without notice

These COVID-19 guidelines are in addition to the regular track practice rental guidelines listed below:

All personnel entering the infield area for practice sessions must first sign a release. They must be 19 years of age or older with the following exception:

  • Driver must be 19 years of age or older, or 16 to 18 provided an official notarized Minor’s Release form is executed and submitted by both parents and/or legal guardians at least 72 hours in advance of rental.

Anyone not actually driving or working on the race cars should not be in the pit area.

Rentals are non-refundable; if the weather is an issue the session will be rescheduled. If you need to reschedule for any reason other than the weather, you must do so at least 48 hours in advance of the start time. “No-Shows” will not be rescheduled.

Your practice time starts when you enter the gate and finishes when you exit the gates.

Race cars must have, and drivers must wear, all safety and other equipment per rules governing their division.

A maximum of four registered teams can share the rental with only one car on the track at a time. Cars participating in the rental cannot be swapped during the rental period, i.e. the four cars at the track must be the same cars that have been indicated on the Track Rental Request forms.

Rental Fees do not include Fire/Medic personnel or vehicles, wreckers, insurance, or any track staff or equipment. These services are available through the track at an additional fee.

If weather threatens your ability to use the track, in order to avoid a cancellation penalty, you should confirm the weather at the track before deciding not to attend.

A minimum of two people are required for each rental and you must have access to a cellular phone while on-site. Should you need emergency assistance call 911 first, then call 902-863-9614* to report the incident to the track. *If not available call 902-863-1596.

You rent the track AT YOUR OWN RISK and you also accept responsibility for any and all persons on-site during your rental. No alcohol or any illegal substance is permitted on-site during the rental. No person who is impaired by any substance is permitted on-site during a practice session.

You are required to clean up any fluid spillages and are responsible for any facility damage that may happen during your rental. You are also required to ensure the pit gate is locked after you enter and when you leave.

These sessions are only for the purpose of practicing a race car in advance of one of our events. If you are considering a track rental for any other reason you must make that request with full disclosure of the purpose, the expected number of attendees, etc., in writing to mclean@riversidespeedway.ca – practice session rental rates do not apply for any other purpose.

Failure to comply with the Riverside International Speedway Team Track Rental Policy & Procedures outlined here and on the team track rental reservation form may result in eviction from the premises and forfeiture of future rental and/or racing privileges.

Track Rental Request

The track is available for private practice sessions to teams that race at our facility. These sessions must be booked and paid for in advance by using the form on this page. Please read the Track Rental Policy prior to making a track rental request.

THE 2020 POLICY IS SIGNIFICANTLY UPDATED TO INCLUDE COVID-19 PROTOCOLS.

Requests will only be considered for teams that are registered with a series that visits our facility or for teams registered with the track to compete in one of the races over the IWK 250 weekend. The driver of the car must be the person indicated on the Track Rental Request form; should a test driver be required they must be identified in the Team Member section of the rental request form.
