Things You Need to Know

We appreciate our fans at Riverside International Speedway and work hard to make sure you get the best possible experience when you visit our facility. Part of the experience is knowing what to expect. If you don’t find what you are looking for in the following information you are encouraged to contact us. Our policies change from time to time; please review prior to attending each event.

This information is published for reference only and is subject to change without notice.

We have designated accessible parking spots next to the main gate and have a viewing platform at the top of the main grandstand. The walkways inside the gate are concrete and we have golf cart service from the main gate to the midway area for guests with limited mobility. Accessible washrooms are available.

Alcoholic beverages are prohibited from being carried into our events or consumed openly anywhere on our grounds. There is a licensed area serving beer and coolers/seltzers in the turn one-two end of the track. Guests must be 19 years of age or older to purchase and/or consume alcohol at RIS; identification may be requested. We refuse the right to refuse alcohol service. The RIS alcohol policy is governed by the Nova Scotia Liquor Control Act.

Self-contained RVs can be used for overnight stays at RIS for events only. Proof of RV liability insurance is required upon request. A permit is required for all overnight stays during the IWK 250 weekend, including the week before and the week after. Please review the RIS Camping Terms of Use prior to planning an overnight stay on our grounds.

We have full canteen service in the main grandstand, the beer garden, and in the pit area. Menu offerings include hot and cold food and drinks.

RIS is committed to providing an enjoyable experience for our guests. Please respect others. Improper conduct (i.e. profane or abusive language, emotional or physical harassment, or other abusive behaviour) will not be tolerated and violators are subject to ejection from the facility.

Small personal-size coolers (maximum 14″x14″x14″, preferably soft-sides) are permitted. No glass or alcohol is permitted to enter the facility. Coolers are subject to a security check upon entering the venue.

Shirts and shoes must be worn at all times.

Medics are on-site during on-track activity for events; please advise track personnel if you require assistance. At all other times, guests use the facility at their own risk.

Ticket discounts may be available for groups of 20 or more. Email info@riversidespeedway.ca or call 902-404-7049 for more information.

Infant changing stations are located in the ladies restroom at the base of the tower in the main grandstand area.

RIS is not responsible for items lost, stolen, or damaged while on our property. During an event lost and found items will be held at the main entry box office. If you lose an item during an event please provide a written description to the security guard at the bottom of the tower steps; they will get it to the announcer. For more information please call 902-863-2410.

Starting in 2021, all OHVs (including golf carts) will require a permit to operate at any time (or event) on RIS grounds. Permits are available for the season or for per event. Please review the RIS OHV terms of use prior to using an OHV on RIS property.

There is plenty of free spectator vehicle parking on the grounds. Signs are posted to designate these areas and parking attendants may be on-site, depending on the event.

Sorry, no animals are permitted in the grandstand or pit areas, except for service animals of guests with disabilities (ESA certificate required).

The pit area is restricted to those 18 years of age and older. The only exception to the age policy may be for competitors under 18 years of age.  In order for them to gain entry to the pit area, insurance forms must be submitted for review at least 72 hours in advance of arrival at the pit gate. Complete details and forms are here.

  • Aerosol cans
  • Air horns or other noisemakers
  • Alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, noxious substances

Throwing or tossing objects within the facility or onto the track surface is strictly prohibited; violators will be ejected from the facility.

In the event of rain, the racing will be temporarily suspended. Every effort will be made to complete the program after the rain stops and the course is deemed safe for competition. If officials decide the bad weather will prevent the return of safe racing conditions in a reasonable amount of time, the remaining races will be postponed or canceled as follows: If no qualifying or heat races have run, your rain check will be honored at the scheduled rain date. If a portion of the qualifying events has been completed, 50% of the value of your attached rain check will be honored at the next scheduled event. There will be no refunds on your ticket if the main event is more than 50% complete. Please keep your ticket stub as the rain check is attached. You must present your ticket with a rain check stub attached for compensation in case a portion or full rainout happens. NO REFUNDS.

Re-entry is permitted if you leave the grandstand area during an event but you MUST get a re-entry stamp on your hand before you exit. You must present your stamp and ticket stub for re-entry. The pit area gate is closed once racing starts and not re-opened until after the last checkered flag.

There are no refunds on tickets or camping except if we completely cancel an event due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. There are no refunds whatsoever for merchandise.

Restrooms are located on the backside of the tower in the main grandstand, adjacent to the canteen in the beer garden, and in the tech building in the infield.

We offer three types of grandstand seating. Our premium seats are located in the top two rows and are stadium-style seats (arms and backs). Premium seats are sold for the season only. Our bench seating is available as reserved or general admission.

All bags and coolers are subject to search upon entry; for ease of access, guests are encouraged to use transparent bags whenever possible. Security measures may be enhanced at the request of a promoter, local authorities, and at the discretion of RIS management. Guests that refuse to cooperate with security protocol will be refused entry, and not be eligible for a refund if they have already purchased their ticket.

Smoking is prohibited in the grandstand and in the Beer Garden. Smoking areas,  for tobacco products only, are set up in the midway.

Official RIS swag is available in our merchandise booth at the turn one end of the tower, and online.

Tickets for RIS events are offered in advance online; if tickets remain available on the event day they can be purchased at the track box office. On-sale dates, pricing, and more for each event can be found on our Schedule & Tickets page.
