JAMES RIVER, NS (July 20, 2012) – Following are unofficial race results from Friday night at Riverside International Speedway where a huge crowd watched the Napa Sportsman Series and Maritime League of Legends go to battle on the fast oval. Both series races were championship point scoring events en route to their respective season titles.

Legends heat race winners were Tony Gaudet Jr and Chad Windsor.

Friday’s action was the opening act for the 2012 edition of the IWK 250 Super Weekend at Riverside International Speedway. The main attraction is set for Saturday with the running of the IWK 250 Presented by Steve Lewis Auto Body, round seven of 12 for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour. The race offers a purse exceeding $85,000 and will feature the best short track racers in Canada, along with U.S. southern short tack superstar Corey Williams, and celebrity guest driver – NASCAR’s Joey Logano.

Reserved seating has sold out for the event but plenty of general admission seating remains. With more than 600 RV’s on site the camping area has sold out as well (except for those with advance reservations).

The box office opens at Noon Saturday. Time trials will go at 3:30, and heat races at 4:30. At 5:30 fans will enjoy an autograph session with the stars of the IWK 250 (drivers) and a pre-race concert with Maritime Celtic band ‘Jug in Hand’. Pre-race ceremonies for the IWK 250 Presented by Steve Lewis Auto Body start at 7 p.m. and the green flag is expected to fly at 7:30.

Riverside International Speedway is a 1/3-mile high banked asphalt oval located in James River, between New Glasgow and Antigonish, at exit 30 off Trans Canada Highway 104.
