JAMES RIVER, NS – Riverside International Speedway is set to kick off its 57^th year on Saturday with the Spring Fling – a blast from the past celebrating grass roots racing jam-packed with exciting and affordable fun for the whole family. Grandstand admission is only $20 for adults (16+) and free for kids 15 and under. The show will feature the inaugural East Coast Enduro Challenge paying a whopping $3000 to win, the Whispering Winds MASS Mini Stock Series and the return of the Street Stock racing at Riverside.

Over 30 drivers have already registered to run the East Coast Enduro Challenge – the richest entry-level race of its kind ever held in the Maritimes. As many as 41 cars could start the 80-lap feature with heat races and a last chance race (if necessary) determining the starting line-up. Drivers can register for the race at the pit gate on Saturday as well so the car count could grow substantially. Enduro racing is unique with standing starts and no cautions (yellow flag) – only green to start and red to stop – creating even more excitement for the fans.

With second-place paying $1500, third-place $1000 and at least $100 to start the East Coast Enduro Challenge, the battle for the win will be exciting. The Mini Stocks and Street Stock will both run Twin features, Twin 25s for Mini Stock and Twin35s for Street Stock. Both divisions will see heat races set the starting order for features and both pay $500 to win and $100 to start.

The Mini Stock is a championship points race for the Whispering Winds MASS Mini Stock Series – the first of two stops for the season, and the Street Stock race is the only one of its kind this year at Riverside and a non-points event. The full payout for all divisions is over $20,000 and can be found at RiversideSpeedway.ca.

Kiddies Rides will start the show where children get to ride in a real race car with their favourite driver.

The pit gate opens at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, practice starts at 12:30 p.m. The grandstand opens at 12:30 for advance ticket holders and the box office (for race day ticket sales) opens at 2 p.m. The show starts at 3 with Kiddies Rides followed by racing. Adult grandstand tickets are just $20, HST included; 15 & under free tickets are available at the gate, starting at 2 p.m. Parking is free.

Camping is free this weekend, from Noon on Friday to Noon Sunday, using Section B. Campers are asked to be mindful of wet conditions around the property after a week of rain.
