Management for Riverside International Speedway is excited to announce July 21-23 as the dates for the 2022 edition of the IWK 250 Super Weekend.

With the event cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19 restrictions, management has fingers crossed the third time is the charm.

“We’re eagerly anticipating the IWK 250 in 2022,” said Joan Roue, manager of Riverside International Speedway. “It’s a bucket list event on the Canadian short track stock car calendar anticipated by fans and racers, so important that we get the date announced early so folks can make plans accordingly.”

The 2022 event will kick off Thursday, July 21 with the popular Tailgate Party, regional racing action on Friday, July 22, and the IWK 250 presented by Steve Lewis on Saturday, July 23. Cape Breton’s party band ‘High Society’ is confirmed for the Tailgate Party; racing divisions for Friday’s show will be announced as confirmed. While Saturday’s IWK 250 will be a championship points event for the East Coast International Pro Stock Tour it typically draws entries from other top drivers from throughout the region and beyond.

The IWK 250 has raised awareness and over $500,000 for the IWK Foundation since its inception in 2007. In 2021, a smaller event held on the September 11 date which had been scheduled for the IWK 250 saw over $12,000 raised for the Foundation by fans, sponsors, and the track.

Riverside management is also pleased to announce a new partnership with the recently-opened Microtel Antigonish as the Official Hotel of Riverside International Speedway. Fans can make race-stay reservations online (www.microtelantigonish.com) or call the hotel directly (902-735-0101).

Campers that have transferred their 2020/2021 sites to 2022 will be contacted early in the new year for current RV and contact information using a new reservation system that will generate site confirmations upon receipt of the data. Campers who have not submitted their transfer requests as yet can do so here.

A full season is planned for 2022 at Riverside International Speedway and potentially including new and exciting events for the whole family. Details will be announced as available.

The IWK 250 Super Weekend will mark the end of a busy month of July in 2022 for the Antigonish area with the Antigonish Highland Games July 8-10 and the Nova Scotia Special Olympics July 15-17.
