JAMES RIVER, NS – Management for Riverside International Speedway is pleased to release the expected entry lists for all three divisions racing on the IWK 250 Super Race Weekend. And they’re exceptional with nearly 90 cars registered (so far) with drivers from six provinces and one state; it’s the largest overall car count for the event in over a decade.

Twenty-eight top super late model/pro stock racers have signaled their intent to compete in the $20,000-to-win IWK 250 presented by Steve Lewis on July 15. The stout list includes…

  • NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series two-time winner in ’23, Carson Hocevar
  • IWK 250 champions Donald Chisholm, Greg Proude, and Wayne Smith
  • NASCAR Pinty’s Series winner Donald Chisholm
  • East Coast International Pro Stock Tour champions Chisholm, Smith, and Craig Slaunwhite
  • 5-time Ontario Pro Late Model champion Rick-Spencer Walt
  • Sunset Speedway (Ontario) & NASCAR Whelen Series 2-time champion Dwayne Baker
  • East Coast International Pro Stock Tour ’23 winners Jarrett Butcher, Ryan Messer, and Nicholas Naugle
  • Super Late Model Series race ’23 winners Proude, and Ryan Messer
  • U.S.-based CARS Tour winner Austin MacDonald from Pictou – grandson of Rollie MacDonald
  • Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame ’23 Inductee Gary Elliott

Hocevar, the ’23 NASCAR celebrity driver for the IWK 250, will drive the popular Cat Car for Kids; it’s sponsored by Toromont Cat and adorned with signatures of IWK Health Care Centre patients and their families – an event centerpiece in helping raise awareness and funds for the IWK Foundation. Since 2007, friends and fans of the IWK 250 have donated over $567,000 to the IWK Foundation.

Each of these drivers along with all of the rest on the entry list are looking to see their name etched on the coveted John W. Chisholm Memorial Cup as the 2023 IWK 250 champion.

Riverside Speedway opened in 1969 under the helm of Antigonish businessman John Chisholm. It was sold in 1989 and bought back by Mr. Chisholm late in 2005, rebuilt in 2006, and rebranded Riverside International Speedway. Still owned by the Chisholm family, the popular 1/3-mile high-banked asphalt oval has provided generations of race fans with some of the best stock car racing entertainment in North America for over 50 years.

Fans can keep up with Riverside news all year long by visiting www.RiversideSpeedway.ca, subscribing to the email newsletter, and following social media accounts on Facebook (riversidespeedwayns) and Twitter (Riverside_NS).
