Halifax, NS (Aug 16, 2012) – The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour will make its third and final visit of the season to Riverside International this Saturday for the Lucas Oil 100. The high banks of Riverside’s 1/3 mile oval will play host to race 10 of 12 for the high-octane touring series. The event will also mark the third and final Lucas Oil presented race of the season.  With local heroes and championship contenders all expected in the field on Saturday, action in the Lucas Oil 100 is sure to be intense. Grandstand gates for the Lucas Oil 100 open at 2:30 PM; Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials will get underway at 5:10 PM with racing slated for 6:00 PM. With only three races remaining on the 2012 schedule the chase for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour Championship is on! Three drivers have secured themselves as front runners heading into the Lucas Oil 100. 2009 series champion Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS) leads the standings for the first time this season with 1723 points. Jonathan Hicken (Brudenell, PE) sits just four markers behind in his quest for his first Pro Stock Tour Championship. 10 points back of Turple in third is three-time series champ John Flemming (Halifax, NS).

The top three have a 40-plus point lead over their closest competitors, however with the level of competition on the Tour and three races to go there is still opportunity for several more drivers to make their move on the current leaders; including three-time series champion Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB) who is 41 points back of Turple in fourth. Kent Vincent (Crapaud, PE), who has driven in the series since its inception in 2001, but has yet to take home the championship, sits in fifth position 14 points behind Tucker and 55 points back of Turple.

Saint John, New Brunswick’s Lonnie Sommerville will make his Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour return this Saturday at Riverside International Speedway at the wheel of the No. 99 Halifax Glass and Mirror Chevrolet Impala, subbing for Craig Slaunwhite who is out of province for the weekend. This will mark Sommerville’s first series start since the 2010 edition of the Atlantic Cat 250. For the past two years Sommerville has been racing full-time south of the border on the Pro All Star Series where he currently sits in the top five in point standings.

The Napa Sportsman Series will kick off the show with a 50 lap feature prior to the Lucas Oil 100.
